Four $1000 book scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors, members of San Benito’s High School’s Class of 2022. These outstanding scholars were selected from a deep pool of talented applicants. The money will be used to fund expenses during their first year of post secondary education. Our inaugural scholarship recipients are pictured below with Chendo Bañuelos, Victor’s nephew, who represented the memorial fund at the San Benito High School scholarship awards ceremony.

Jaelynn Huerta aspires to be a veterinarian and will be attending Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas.

Alejandra Hernandez aspires to be an animal specialist with the U.S. Army and will be attending Texas A&M University in Laredo Texas.

Ana Sosa aspires to be a math teacher and will be attending the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley.

Estephanie H. Media will pursue a career in nursing and will be attending the University of Texas at Austin, TX.
